Nexperia, a Dutch semiconductor company, released a significant update regarding recent developments affecting its global operations, governance, and supply chain.

Late on November 5th local time, Nexperia issued a significant update regarding recent developments affecting its global operations, governance, and supply chain, stating that "the company remains committed to maintaining transparency, ensuring business continuity, and protecting the interests of its global customers, suppliers, employees, and stakeholders."

Geopolitical Dynamics and Supply Chain Recovery

In the statement, Nexperia noted that US authorities have suspended the so-called "related party rule" for one year. This rule previously extended US export control restrictions to companies with 50% or more of their equity held by entities on the US Entity List. Nexperia welcomed this, as it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wingtech Technology Co., Ltd., which was added to the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) Entity List in December 2024. Without this suspension, Nexperia might have been affected by the rule.

“We also welcome China’s commitment to facilitate the resumption of exports from Nexperia’s factories in China and its subcontractors, in order to ensure a continued supply of critical legacy chips to the global market. We look forward to obtaining the relevant conditions, standards and procedural details regarding this easing of export restrictions as soon as possible,” the company said.
