Molex, a global electronics leader and connectivity innovator, announced today that it will expand its existing manufacturing operations in Hanoi, including a new 16,000-square-meter factory. The company expects the expansion to bring more than 200 new jobs in advanced high-tech manufacturing.
Molex opened its first factory in the country in 2007. The expansion will help meet growing market demand for its products. Molex products are used in many different devices, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances, test equipment and medical equipment.
"Molex has been operating in Vietnam for 15 years, and this expansion demonstrates our long-term commitment to Vietnam and society," said Joe Nelligan, CEO of Molex. "Expanding our manufacturing in Hanoi increases our presence in Asia Pacific. regional capacity and other capabilities, we plan to grow with our customers and create more opportunities for our skilled workforce.”
The fully integrated connector manufacturing facility will employ advanced robotics, high-speed injection molding, stamping, electroplating and automated assembly processes, as well as mold manufacturing capabilities and a reliability testing laboratory.
According to Molex's Environmental Management Plan, the expanded plant will be equipped with on-site solar power to meet the plant's energy needs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
